Malware Spread through ‘Sydney Sweeney Leaked Nudes’ Scams on X

The latest episode, which is being used for spreading malware, is the ‘Sydney Sweeney leaked nudes’.

When the naïve user clicks on such dubious links, he is taken to sites with explicit content but also exposes him to security risks.

This is not the first time such an incident has happened. A few days ago, AI-generated Taylor Swift images went viral on X.

What is surprising is that X has not taken measures to remove such content from its platform.

The use of fictitious websites promising naked pictures and videos of celebrities to spread malware is not a new phenomenon and has been taking place for a long time.

The latest instance is of cybercriminals using the “Sydney Sweeney leak” trending topic on X (formerly Twitter) to take users to dubious websites and then infect their computers with malware.

The users believe that X, being a reputed social site, will not contain any such malware, which is not true. There are reports that a short clip with a number of links is being displayed on X.

However, it is reported that X has removed the link from its platform.

However, many have questioned the delay in removing the links and the generally lenient attitude of X on such incidents.

The video clip on the post has blurred images which suggest that the content is explicit.

The post further suggests the user click on the links, which will take them to the website with the actress’ leaked videos

However, the blurred images are taken from other porn sites and are meant only to generate curiosity in the user and provoke him to click.

The links take the user to suspect sites and make them susceptible to malware attacks.

The websites triggered warnings from antivirus software on the computers, highlighting the increased threats associated with the websites.

As already mentioned, explicit AI-generated images of Taylor Swift were used to spread malware, and the post was able to rake in more than 45 million views before it was taken down.
