Joe Arden, the renowned voice actor has found himself in the middle of a huge controversy amongst the BookTok, the popular TikTok Book community.
Joe Arden is currently facing aggression and accusations of predatory behavior from fans. Thus, he addressed his fans by taking himself to his official Instagram account as the allegations continued to rise, reported IMDB.
Along with a renowned voice actor, Joe Arden is also the Chief executive officer of a publishing company, Blue Nose Audio. He authors “The Chameleon Effect” as well.
A Tailgram post went viral all over the internet having information on the manipulation, “fake, forward-facing feminism,” and predatory behavior of Joe Arden.
However, at the time of writing this article, the Tailgram post has been deleted.
But, @alexintheabstract, a TikTok user shared screenshots of the same on the video-sharing platform.
Allegations Against Joe Arden Explored
@by_the_bookcase, a TikTok creator broke the silence of controversy surrounding Arden. In a recently posted video, he highlighted certain allegations against Arden made on Tailgram.
They summarised the allegations received including, “unethical business practices and sexual misconduct:”
“There has emerged a consistent pattern of unethical business practices and sexual misconduct with fans, authors, and readers. The unethical business practices include trash-talking other production companies, narrators, and even authors that he’s worked with, as well as contracts that are questionable or exploitative.”
According to The Direct, an agent claimed that Blue Noise Audio, Arden’s production company has authors, “sign their rights away.” This is done as the organization will own the audiobook.
Another revelation stated that Joe Arden went into “explicit detail” with a female author about adding sexual content to her book. She revealed that she felt uncomfortable to do so in person with a man.
Arden’s conduct with fans was also questioned in which he met with one at a signing and private event. Later they began with online conversation which later led to sexual images being shared and conversations done for several months.
Later, when the fan got to know that the author was married, she confronted him. After this, Joe Arden “doubled down and there was a heavy sexting conversation.”
Other Tailgram posts claimed that the voice actor usually set the conversations to “Vanish mode” to avoid keeping any evidence against him. Moreover, the conversation gets regularly deleted and an alert is issued if a snapshot of the same is taken.
Another Tailgram post said that how Joe would “play hot and cold, often abruptly ending conversations if [they] asked too many or the wrong question.” Thus interactions with Joe are called “truly a master class in gaslighting” in the posts.
The TikTok user, @by_the_bookcase also clarified that primary sources also opened up about “facing similar experience with Arden in the past.”
In
the wake of the revolving controversy, Joe Arden took to his Instagram and denied the accusations made against him anonymously on the internet.
He added,
“To the authors, readers, and listeners who have welcomed me into this audiobook community over the past decade:
I want to address the recent anonymous allegations that have been leveled against me.
While I’m not perfect, I categorically deny these accusations, and I’m working through the ramifications privately.”
He also admitted that he is a flawed person:
“I’ve never engaged in non-consensual, coercive exchanges with anyone.
To those who criticized aspects of my character, I am a flawed person and am always trying to learn and grow.
I appreciate your grace as I continue to listen and work to improve.
