Johanna Gonzalez Fatally Shot Herself At Industry station With Deputy’s Gun

On March 26, 2024, Tuesday, officials discovered a 17-year-old girl Johanna Gonzalez who allegedly shot herself to death by grabbing a deputy’s gun. This incident occurred at the Industry sheriff’s station during an altercation, reported ABC7.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced that at the station at 150 N. Hudson Ave, the shooting occurred.

L.A. County Medical Examiner’s Department stated that the girl, Johanna Gonzalez, died at the scene. Thus, the Department listed the girls’ death as suicide.

As per Daily News, the cause of Johanna Gonzalez’ death was listed as “gunshot wound of the head.”

In a statement released on Monday morning, the sheriff’s department stated,

“Investigators learned that on Sunday … at approximately 7:25 p.m., Industry Sheriff’s Station deputies received a family disturbance call for service on the 300 block of Clintwood Avenue in the city of La Puente.”

The sheriff’s statement added,

“The juvenile’s foster parents reported that the juvenile was suffering from an apparent mental health crisis. Deputies responded to the scene; however, the juvenile had already left on foot before the deputies arrived.”

According to Sheriff’s officials, they were unaware where the 17-year-old was heading at the time of the call.

Industry sheriff’s station and the La Puente home are approximately one mile apart.

Sheriff’s Lt. Art Spencer stated that Gonzalez knocked on the station door around 7:40 p.m. She gained entry, withdrew the deputy’s handgun and shot herself.

Spencer added that the girl also “suffered a self-inflicted wound” during the altercation.

The girl’s family’s attorney said that they wish to carry out their own investigation into this matter.

Delaney Miller, the attorney said,

“Knowing her size, her physical abilities, I find it incredibly hard to believe that she would be able to disarm a deputy who had their weapon properly holstered.”

Johanna Gonzalez’s aunt and uncle were her foster parents.

Johanna Gonzalez GoFundMe Campaign

As the news of Johanna Gonzalez’s death escalated all over the internet, Miriam Gutierrez, the 17-year-old’s mother, organized a GoFundMe campaign.

The campaign was made to raise $10,000 to pay for the funeral expenses of the 17-year-old.

The fundraiser stated:

“We would like to ask for donations to help us pay for the funeral of our beautiful daughter who tragically passed away on 3/24/24.”

As of writing this article, 1000 USD out of $10,000 has been raised.
